I have a 1993 Mercruiser 5.0L engine with Alpha One outdrive. There is a chipped piece of aluminum on this outdrive, probably from the fin attachment. I found the lower unit for the alpha one outdrive with a good housing (picture is attached). The owner knows only the year of this product 1973, but does not know what kind of engine was this unit attached to.
The question is, are the housings the same or there is any difference? I can replace the gears in the good housing with my own gears as long as the housings are the same.

Ayuh,.... a '73 would be an MC-1, not an Alpha,...

A '93 is a Gen.II drive, so Nope, no interchange is possible,...

You need a lower unit, Newer than '91,.....
