When was the last time it had a full tuneup and the fuel filters changed. Do you even have a water seperating type fuel filter installed?

Unless your looking to be replacing the pistons soon, stop with the ether. could the choke plate be completely closed?Follow Don`s advice first then let us know what`s happening.

It's been 2 years now with out a tune up or fuel filter, and no seperating type filter, she just runs 15 or 20 hours a season though. I will take care these things and let you know. thanks, Larry

Sittin' around doing nothing is worse than running.
Do some maintenance then see how it works.

Alot of guts ignoring your boat for 2 years without any maintainence and then wondering what's wrong. Have fuel but no brain? Yeah, I'm brutally honest, you ought to have your wee wee wacked. Are you kidding me, have you changed the oil even? Betting that you're saying no right about now, I would be surprised if you say yes. Since you care so much about your boat, take it to someone who will give it a little loving care. Better yet, there are plenty of guys here that would love to own a 2000 model boat that can't afford it but would take loving care of it. Give it to someone who cares about their machinery instead of abusing it.
Yeah, if I have a pet peive, it's someone who doesn't give a sh!t about their boat and then has the guts to cry when they can't play with the rest of the kids on the water. It would be different if you had at least serviced it annually.

Pretty harsh, Dave. I'm with you on the oil change, but we don't really know about that, do we? Maybe the OP has had this done. Larry might be one of those people who falsely assumes oil stays good if you don't run the engine, or he might have had it changed. Jumping all over him isn't the right answer here.

As to tune-ups, what is there to service on a 2000 model? Does it even have points? What would you do for a tune-up? Maybe plugs, but with low hours on it they should be fine. Modern electronic ignition engines just don't need that much tuning.

Seems to me all he's asking is whether fuel starvation problems can kick in that quickly between uses. And the answer is, yes they can.

Larry, sounds like you're doing the right thing replacing the original filter and adding a water separator. Be sure to place the separator between the tank and the pump, not upstream of the pump.

Relax, boys. Yup, I had changed the engine oil and the gear oil. I'll pick up a fuel filter, rotor and distrbutor cap today, the plugs looked fine.
Thanks for you help.Larry

I,m sorry for coming off like that. My ASSumption was when he said no tune-up or fuel filters in two years, it sounded like he had done nothing.
