Greetings, all -
I've recently pulled the lower shift cable from my Alpha One outdrive. It's in very good condition with smooth movement. Can anyone tell me if lubricating this cable upon reassembly would be wise, and if so, what would be the best lubricant to use?
Thanks!

Richard,
I think if you do lubricate the lower shift cable inside, it will not work correctly and will stall your engine. If it was working for you, why would you lubricate it now.
If the engine stalls as you shift in gear or come out of gear, that means that your lower shift cable could be a problem.
The cable may look great and have a smooth movement, but it could be stretched a little and cause a problem shifting.
I would only lubricate the plastic end of cable, one that is sitting on the shift plate. Also, lubricate shift slide at the bellhousing end of the shift cable.
