alpha one gen2 impeller qustion

i am changing the impeller and i set it down and now i am not sure if it got moved ( my kid ) any way if you put it in the houseing with in you hand looking at the bottom which way should the fins bend ? to the right or left ?

The normal procedure is to turn the shaft clockwise as you lower the housing over the impeller. A dab of dish soap will speed things up....

Thanks.... hey one more qustion.... the seal that goes on the shaft once you have the impeller cup on.. does it just slide down aginst the cup ? or does it fit in side the opening on the cup ?

i have been seaching and what i have found is what i am after is the face seal... i bought a merc kit .. but it never had the seal tool... i am thinking it just pushes the seal down on the pump housing, but with out doing it to tight.. nothing open tomorrow to get the face seal tool.. i guess i will figure it out..

i bought a merc kit .. but it never had the seal tool...

Only the OEM Mercruisesr kits contains the tool, aftermarket, such as Sierra, Mallory, GLM, etc. do not have the tool.

The face seal when installed, only gets pushed down about 1/16"


Assemble the water pump face seal to a position approximately 1/2 of the way down the
drive shaft. Assemble the water pump face seal setting tool over the drive shaft and push
the seal down onto the water pump with the tool while pulling up on the drive shaft. Remove
the tool from the drive shaft.
