Question about the Double Seal that goes into the bottom of the upper drive housing.
The two seals appear to be identical (one seals OUT water, and one seals IN gear lube).
But the outer portions of the two seals are different. Please see the attached pictures.
Which direction does the seal need to be inserted into the housing.?

Just did mine...there is a slight flange on one side of the double-seal. That is the side that is made to fit down into the housing, towards the prop.

I see a very subtle undercut shape on one side.
Here is another picture showing the side view.
Is that the slight flange that you are referring to.?

Yup, thats it. Flange side down into the case, tight fit for the new seals but use a correct sized socket or the merc seal tool to work it in there. Also, add a little gasket sealer on the mating surface .
