Got a boat recently with Alpha One Gen 1.
Won't go up from Control up, only down.
Moves up from trailer button thought.
Won't show trim level on gauge either.

Was going to try cleaning contacts and if it doesn't work replace next season.
Cleaned inside, but questioning now wether it was put back together correctly.

Trim switch has a copper plate with screw in the middle and 2 contacts on each side.
And also 2 copper plates inside.

When i opened it, the plate with contacts was in other direction aka wasn't touching copper plates at all.
So i guess my question is, do these contacts on tiny copper plate with screw need to be touching other 2 copper plates inside?
Couldn't find any diagrams on how it works

Sounds like the trim limit switch. What year is the boat?

If anyone stumbles upon this: Contacts indeed need to touch copper plates. Cleaned and fixed the location, everything works.

Got any pics? I've got my transom assembly completely torn down, and I'd like to know how to test my trim sending unit / limit switch before putting it all back together. I could just buy new ones for peace of mind, but don't want to waste money if these are still good.

Use a multimeter. Trim sender should move smoothly between 33Ω to 240Ω as you turn it (some areas may be 'blank'). The trim limit is a switch, turn it and make sure it switches between open and closed.
