Hello, I have a 350 mag mpi (1A348183) with alpha genii drive. I just want to answer if anyone has relocated the genii cool fuel module as it is at the most difficult to reach position of the engine while one boat. As I have a fpr problem and need change, I can certainly tell that I prefer to pull the engine of the boat than try get myself in there to change the fpr or if is nesecary at the future the fuel pump or the cool fuel module which has already some signs of corrosion. I finally managed to take off the fpr but it was absolutely a pain in the ass......
Anyway As far as I saw, all it need is extensions for 1)the fuel hose goes to pump, 2)fuel hose return from the fpr, 3) water hose inlet to cooler, 4) water hose outlet of the cooler 5)fuel hose to the rail. It would be perfect if the cooler was at different position. We could also had a cut off vane to the return fuel line for test the pressure can give the fuel pump, or /and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator for to have always the correct according to specs fuel pressure and generally everything would be more easy and cheap to inspect and maintain.....
Has anybody made something like that?
As I am waiting the new fuel pressure regulator, my only thought is how I will get back in there to install the new fpr and reassembly everything again.....

Ayuh,.... I find it "Easier" to just pop the motor out, rather than the plumbin' nightmare of relocatin' the module,...

I highly doubt it'll be nearly as easy as you seem to think it'll be,....

Is there any danger that it might be relocated somewhere little higher that there is now....it is very very low...

I'm only stating my opinion/thoughts on your question, of can fuel pump be relocated.

The electric fuel pump has a draw back and that is, it does not have much suction power, a mechanical fuel pump does. With little suction the pump needs to be mounted at or below the fuel tank exit port. For the most part a fuel pump can be mounted in many locations. After market marine pumps have been installed by many without issue.

Merc installed the pump where it is so it is low (below fuel tank exit port) and has access to water to help cool the fuel. The fuel is being cooled to help stop vapor lock. Vapor lock can be prevented by other methods, but it takes a bit more plumbing.

For a regulator to work it needs to be able to send excess fuel back to the tank, or back to the low pressure side, as in back to fuel filter. To keep the cool fuel module, it needs to be in the water flow.

Do you have closed or open cooling?

It is open cooling and my thought was to relocate the hole genII cool fuel module, including cooler as well, so the plumbing for fuel and water are considered.
Anyway....since there is a danger that i might cause future problems, i will not proceed to any relocation or something like that. I will just install the new fpr right there and i will assembly everything again hoping that i will not have pump or cooler issues to the close future...
