Do I re-installed or throw away the small spacer between the 2 large roller bearings on the yoke shaft when I change the bearings?

The book only stated that the small spacer is not supplied in newer drives or replacement gear sets.

Thanks.

Qystan

If you have new upper gears, you do not use the spacer. If you have some old gear sets you won't use that spacer. But some pinion gears slid easily into the bearings. They get the spacer and the nut is torqued per spec.
The newer gear sets the nut is tightened only enough to obtain the proper rolling torque on the bearings.

Don,

"If you have some old gear sets you won't use that spacer."

Do you mean I will need the spacer if I use the same old gears?

On the old bearings, it was quite tight to turn them. Definitely much more than 6inch-ib. Is that normal?

Zillion thanks.
