shafts will swap, a C clamp and socket work but a press works better

socket and a vice work very well its pretty much a press.if it is a bessy clamp or really solid one it will work, but a cheap wood clamp iam thinking be waste of time!

i'm sure that'll work.
if ya don't wanna get a bad attitude though. get one of them harbor freight u joint presses along with the merc. special tool they talk about in the s/m. http://www.iboats.com/U-Joint-Adapter/dm/*******.713103372--**********.076487490--view_id.271201

them two items made doing u joints on my drive a pleasue to do.

any time i've tried to do the socket thing, i always end up with a bad attitude. hence the better tools for the job. you choice.

+1 on the tool. The clamp can work, but the u-joint tool will probably make life easier since they usually come with various adapters. If you don't want to spring for the Harbor Freight model, your local DIY type parts house (e.g., AutoZone) should have a loaner tool program. You'll have to pay for the tool (around here $100 or so) and you get it all back when it's returned.

Ayuh,... Yer question is poorly worded,...
You Can't put a Long shaft drive where a Short shaft drive goes,...
It won't fit...
