I'm new to boating this season and I attempted to haul out with the out drive down, dragged it a couple of feet stopped ,and then decided it would be a good time to raise the out drive. Except for tearing the ends off two blades of the prop I thought I was okay, but now there is a major leak. I launched today and could hear water running into the bilge, gallons. Right back on to the trailer and back home.

How much damage did I do? I'm calling the shop this week but wanted an idea of what I going to hear.

Depends on whats leaking, transom housing gasket needs the motor to come out and the housing removed to re-gasket it.May have broken the mounting bolts or studs, may just be a boot thats leaking.

You may have also popped off a bellow. That could definitely cause a leak.

No, the skeg is still there it broke about an inch off the tip of two of the prop blades and 1/2 inch off the skeg. The prop blades got stuck in the grooves in the ramp and broke off when I raised the outdrive. Good thing for alum props.

It in the shop now, no word yet. I hopefully it is a bellow and that I didn't do serious damage. Used boats are the best.
