I have a 2006 205 bayliner with alpha 1 and I just replaced my bellows, gimbal bearing the u-joints felt nice and smooth so I left them alone. Now when I turn full left or right with trim all the way down there is a knocking noise, if I trim up a little bit the noise goes away. Is this normal? I don't think it did this with the bad gimbal bearing???

Are you positive you used the correct bearing ,and is it fully seated.

I used a greasable bearing and it is definitely fully seated. I did read somewhere that the greasable bearings were not available anymore, only the sealed ones were but I was able to get a greasable through Sierra S182100. I didn't know which way was supposed to go in so I put the side with cut-outs in, later I read that the cut-outs should face out only for the reason that you could swivel bearing and remove from bearing from bearing housing. The dimensions were the same on both sides so I assume it really doesn't matter.

Defintiely sounds like a U joint going bad, unless you do a complete dis-assembly you cant really tell by looking
