Alpha 1, gen II trim gauge ok out of water but running in the not

Hello,
I've been trying to solve the problem with my sterndrive trim indicator gauge. I know how to adjust and when I do it looks good sitting the trailer, key on, not running.
When I put it the water and running the indicator is is showing way down (starts way down at the bottom of the gauge and does rise as the up is engaged).

Any suggestions to what is going on and how to correct this?

Most likely a faulty sender/wiring issue

Have you inspected the external transom assembly area? Is the wiring intact there and at the connections in the bilge/engine harness?

Thanks for the suggestion, I was also suspecting that. It was some time ago that I first checked and will need to pull it and check again.
