I aligned my engine the other day. But, when I went to install my long tube exhaust I ended up "floating" the engine to get everything to assemble.
After that I spent the afternoon wrestling with my alignment.
Eventually I realized I could un clamp the exhaust tubes without removing them. After that I got things so the bar slides in & out well, but there is a small spot on the port side of my alignment bar that has no stripes when I grease it.
I tried to install my drive, it would not go.
This is my first install of a Gen II, I haven't put one on before. I took a look at Chris's video. It seems straight forward.
I think I need to align the engine laterally.
My mounts have hold downs and sit on flat metal perches inside the stringers, so I can move them. Again.
Do you think I should loosen the rear mount bolts. And do you think i should move the front of the engine to starboard?

With the drive off, and the rear mount bolts are spec torque, and the side mount top nuts backed right off, take the weight of the engine with the lifting loop over the thermostat housing. Run the bottom nuts down a few turns. Now the engine will find it's own 'level'. If you think there is side loading on the side mounts, take the coach screws out and let the engine find it's own lateral movement. (When I install an engine, this is what I do first to find the right place to drill for the coach screws.) Now run the nuts on the side mounts up until they just touch the mount. This is your starting point. Any movement of the side mount nuts from here on in need to be made the same on both sides.

HTH,

Chris........
