Alpha 1 Gen 2 ujoints with outer clips interchangeable/cross-reference?

G'day all.

Have '98 Bayliner Capri 185 w/ Mercruiser 4.3L (0L094641) and Alpha 1 Gen 2 (0M470686). I'm in the process of doing my bellows (done! Thanks to all the great info/tricks on iboats), and redoing all the seals in the upper/lower because of drive oil/water seepage/leakage. Of course while I've been at it, I've found things like shift cable (might as well), ujoints (water in drive bellows, might as well), water shutters (completely gone!!), gear oil through hull fitting (broke), etc..

My question here is specifically with regards to the U-Joints. I've looked at the cross-reference in the Adults only section. But they seem to be for inner clip versions. Mine are outer clip (presumably "newer style"??. I say presumably because mercruiserparts.com lists the outer version as NLA??).

So here are the questions:

1) is there a cross-reference for an "auto" version of the outer clip style?
2) if not, are the inner/outer clip versions interchangeable? i.e. will my yokes accept inner clips?

I apologize if this has been answered already. Usually my "google-fu" is pretty awesome, but it seems to be letting me down on this one...

Thanks BT. The "Land Rover Truck" and sierra number gave me what I needed. looks like it cross-references to:

MOOG 344
Spicer 5-1306X

Looks like both are greasable/non-permalube... but that's fine. Gives me an excuse to actually do a yearly outdrive pull and inspection. Hopefully they work!!

yes and the joints with the inner clips cross references to spicer 5- 789x
big difference , 14 dollars at summit racing, compaired to 50 bucks at marine stores
