Hey people, been a while. Just got my drive all serviced and ready to go. Last year my speedo was not working so I thought I would fix that this year.
I can't force air through pick up in the lower drive from either direction. I cleared the passage from the bottom with a drill bit by hand and tried to force a wire through from the top with no luck. How far should the drill go in. I'm getting about an inch or so. There is water sitting in the passage way because the wire is wet when i pull it out. Not sure where to go from here. Any advice welcome.

Thanks,

Ken

Hiya, if you have a cell phone, load a GPS app on it and use that. No drills, wire snakes, blowing thru the line, and far more accurate. Forget the old inaccurate speedo and welcome to the new world! lol.

If Ken is anything like me (and having followed a lot of his posts over the years, he is) it matters not that the instrument is 'inaccurate', it matters that it's working. I also have a pitot speedo in my boat, and I very rarely look at it (I use the GPS speed on my chart plotter), but it needs to be working. That's just the way we are...

Well, since we all are being open about things, I am also just that way. Ask anyone that knows me, I'm kinda anal about those things too. My 1981 Sunrunner has a tach that doesn't work. Drives me nuts. Working on it as well. No replacement parts are available for it and I have checked it many times to try to find out the cause. I started by checking the wiring at the coil and I may find that the main harness has a break in it. It used to work before I put in the rebuild engine in it. It's an old analog version and I don't like digital.

Hear ya. I just like having every thing working as it should.

Thanks Chris. Hit the nail right on the head.
There is a bit of water sitting in there and I'm a little concerned it may freeze. I put the drive on so I could run it for oil change, so it has to stay out side now. Had the drive blasted last year, so I'm wondering if that may have hardened in there.
