While trying to replace my u-joints, I bent the drive shaft yoke where it enters the outdrive. A new yoke is $100 and when I replace it do I need to re-shim or can I just assume the old and new yoke are identical? My bearings are good and will not be replaced. Seals will most likely be replaced based on inspection upon removal.

This is behind a 95 3.0 LX and several repair places have told me that I may be able heat up the yoke to bend it back. Their logic is the 3.0 does not have enough power to damage the less than perfect yoke. My concern is balance at RPM.

thanks

guess you forgot a circlip, there kind of tough to bend up.The Gen II should use the rolling torque method.
Its not the horsepower, should it break away at rpm`s you will destroy the bellows, shift cable, and crack the transom housing where the bellows connect.

Re-shim? No... But you will have to re-set the rolling torque of the bearing pack....
