I am getting ready to replace my impeller on my alpha 1 gen 2 (seiral # k154222) and I have a couple of questions.
1. Which is easier for a one man job. Remove the whole unit from the bell housing vs. just the lower unit from the upper when doing this procedure?
the boat is on a trailer and will be done in the drive way by myself.
2. If I seperate the lower unit from the bell housing do I need to replace the bell housing gasket and o-ring? If so does anyone know a part number?
3.Also need a part number for the water pump face seal as the sierra impeller kit didnt come w/ one.
4. Is there a generic replacement for the quick silver marine grease w/ teflon that i could get at a local autoparts store?
I have the mercruiser manual so I feel confident in doing this but I have read some diffrent opinions on lower unit removal.
