Had my SE106 rebuilt just because. I am restoring a 1980 citation and wanted to be sure it was in perfect condition. Everything is completed but the engine overheats. I removed the 3/4 inch hose from the stern drive to the thermostat housing to see what kind of flow is coming from the stern drive impeller to the engine with ear muffs on, water on full to the muffs, and the engine running at 750 rpms. The amount of water is barely 1 gallon per minute instead of the recommended 7 to 8 1/2 gallons per minute. Where in the world could a restriction be? Could the mechanic possibly have installed the impeller pumps gaskets incorrectly? And if they are correct, then where should I go from there? HELP! I have a new pump kit for it so I am going to remove the lower gear housing today to look at the pump installation. what else should I check before reinstalling the lower gear unit?
