Trying to pull the bearing carrier out. Heat and homemade puller has broken some of the rear end of carrier. Considering breaking away the rest of the rear end of carrier and taping prop shaft from side to side.
Saw some other suggestions using the prop with metal plates to pull carrier and prop shaft together. Will the shaft carrier and rear gear come out as one unit? Does the shift shaft need to be removed before pulling out? Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the manual?

Pulling the carrier depends on which you have, and shift shaft doesn't need to be removed. Carrier comes out first

You CAN NOT remove the propshaft and the carrier as a unit. The propshaft will be stopped by it's engagement with the shift spool (to be married soon ). Removal of the propshaft is done by first removing the carrier, then kicking the shaft over to one side to disengage the spool.

First up, get the manual (genuine, not aftermarket)...
