Hi @ all<br /><br />when did Mercruiser start building the Alpha 1 Generation 2 stern drive. And did they change a lot ? I would be interested if there where major changes that happened around 1996 (i have a 1996 5.7L with an alpha 1 drive and would like to know if it is already Gen. 2 and/or if it makes sense to upgrade it to Gen. 2 because it might be more reliable and lasts longer).<br /><br />Thanks for your help<br /><br />Gordon
