does anyone know how to remove the bell housing on a alpha 1 transom assembly?

This will help if you have the newer style hinge pins that sit under the senders......
Run the cursor over the lettered sections on page seven & click on the section that you want to view......;)

its 95 degrees and humid. fluke and blues were runnunig strong. its a 1985 welcraft 192 american with a 170 merc 4 cyl engine. its a alpha 1 gen 1 drive. any advice would be appreciated.

You will need to remove the trim senders to get at the hinge pins....
There is a special tool for their removal, a 12 point deal....
If you can get a suitable six point it will work with a little heat....
(The threads have loctite on them & are torqued to 100#)....
If you are redoing the bellows just cut them in half with a Stanly knife & snips for the wire inside.....
You will need to loosen the lower **** cable from the shift plate on the inside of the boat....
You will need to loosen the clamp on thewater inlet tube where it connects to the bell housing.....
& lastly, you will need to loosen & remove the exhaust bellows on the bell housing side as well......
It is all covered in the link I provided, with pics....
It is a tediuos but doable job.....
Dont waste the exhaust bellows or bother changing them......;)
