Hi Guys;

Just left the Mercruiser dealer with my can of liquid gold (perfect seal) for impeller gasket. It looks like the large hole gasket (bottom one) has a beed of some kind on the face that goes between the plate and the gasket. Am I supposed to put perfect seal between lower housing and gasket only?

The service writer said it was not nessesary, but the manual says it is. Any opinions? Dose that beed of what ever that is on the gasket replace the perfect seal, or is that for the top and the perfect is for the bottom?

Thanks.....

Re: Alpa I, Gen II impeller gasket question

Sorry guys, Looks like I read it right, remembered it wrong.

It seems, according to the manual, the large hole gasket is on top.

New question: Do I only use perfect seal between the gasket and the plate?

Thanks....

Re: Alpa I, Gen II impeller gasket question

perfect seal on the large gasket, below the plate

i always put a layer of sealant on the drive housing too, where the gasket sits, and in the bolt holes

no sealant is required on the smaller gasket, on top of the plate
