I bought a 96 Yamaha Wave Venture 700 from a friend, he told me when I bought it that it smoked so I thought that maybe he was using the wrong 2 cycle oil because he said that he would use just any 2 cycle oil. So we changed the oil to Yamalube and drained the gas and put in fresh gas, and we headed to the lake. We got to the lake put it in the water and went to start it and it started right off the bat and he was right it smokes alot it was everywhere and then it died. Took along time to get it started again and this time I had to hold the throttle wide open to keep it running and even after having it running for about 5-10 min as soon as I let off the throttle it died and we where back to square one. We got it home I pulled the plugs and they were wet with oil, does this mean that the oil in the Fuel/oil mixer is to rich? Does any one out there have any ideas to help me try to resolve this issue? Please let me know it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You for read this and have a nice day!!!!!

try disconnecting the the mixer and mix your own oil with the gas. see how it runs then. It's getting a lot of oil for that smoke to appear.

My ski is a 4-stroke so I don't have to worry about it.

My boat is a 1986 Merc 2-stroke. a lot of these engines smoke, but I use Amsoil synthetic and don't have any smoking problem.

also, could be the carb is set too rich. get a manual and see what the carb settings should be.

good luck!

I removed the Oil Pump and added oil to the gas (50:1 ratio Fuel:Oil) and so far the smoke problem went away. Thank You

Now another problem has come up It starts right off the bat all the time now but it Idles a little rough and when you give it some throttle it boggs down and dies everytime, except when you give it throttle slowly, it will go up and come back to idle ok. It is just when you give it to much throttle it will bogg down and die. Any idea on this one. Thank You for reading this and have a good day.

Jets might be clogged, but it DEFINITLEY sounds like the carb is out of adjustment. I would buy the manual and take it out to the lake and tune the carb. It is pretty easy to do. Usually the factory specs will get it dialed in pretty good (unless there are a bunch of aftermarket crap on it...)
