Re: Almost but not quite can be a Good Thing
Thanks for posting. Wednesday about 4:30, I was on the Interstate headed home on snow covered roads.
As I came over the bridge/overpass a semi was broken down in the right hand lane.. A deputy was walking toward me with one flare lit and a couple of more in his hand. There were a couple of cars behind me and we were all stopped, waiting for traffic to clear so we could merge left to get around.
Then a tanker semi, chasing others came by, then it slowed down in a hurry as it got by the broken down semi.
That's when a second semi came over the bridge going way too fast. He had only one place to go.
Got to give him credit, the trailer was locked up and already on the inside berm. I tapped the horn and pointed out the truck to the deputy as the truck came by us. We watched our lives pass, as the semi slid into the median. The deputy just shook his head.
The driver was OK and on the cell phone as I went by.
I felt sorry for the cop, now he has to stick around for two trucks to get towed/cleared.
The semi blocking the right lane had air hoses laying by the drive wheels.
It could have been very ugly, and it did get very ugly on the turnpike about 30 miles down the road that night.
