This could've been costly.
Went to check the skeg tonight for dryness because I was going to put a new coat of paint on it. Found lower unit oil seaping from the drain plug!
Looks like I forgot to put the plug seal on when I summerized it. Drained and added fresh oil and changed both seals... this was a very lucky find!
Thankfully the boat doesn't sit in a marina and we had it out only twice between then and now. The oil was slightly milky and thankfully there weren't any filings on the bottom plug magnet.
