Almost a real stupid one

This past week we were at Green Lake, WI, and I almost put the boat on the concreat. I have a shorelander roller trailer, with the better rollers. I have Always made sure the boat was over water before I undid the bow safety chain and winch hook. I have been on very steep landings, and the boat never moved. This time I thought for a second, over concreat yet,and not steep, "maybe I should just do it now, it never moves". Then I thought " just do what you always do". I back down until over water, with safety chain on and strap. Get out, walk back and unhook everything, turn around start walking to get back in truck and hear something, and Joanne saying, "Steve Look", sure enough the boat rolled right off into the water. WOW, what a stupid thought I had.

For a change ,,everything worked like it should .
Congratulations for being one of the smarter people here.
Will be putting rollers on when we rebuild the trailer this winter for sure .

I saw this happen just a few weeks ago, guy spilled a really nice boat halfway down the ramp. Luckily his trim was up, but we heard it from across the lake.

He still launched after several people helped winch/push the boat back onto the trailer. I didn't think he would have been able to.

I did the exact same thing - boat started rolling off as I was backing in - can't hit the brakes!!! Accelerated and popped the boat in the water. It was a very busy ramp - I just pretended I had it all planned!!

I launched a 21' from a roller trailer this weekend, not floating at all, gave it just a tiny push with one hand and off it went. Almost scary; I was intentionally seeing how little force would send it out. Of course I had the lines tied off, but also for testing, payed it out by hand to see if I could stop it mid-way. no.

I love roller trailers

That is THE biggest reason I dont take shortcuts. I only have a bass boat, which isn't heavy compared to yours. However I also have a 27' fifth wheel camper that I use a checklist whenever I hook/un-hook. I also teach my kids to use it both when boating and RVing. Keep it real!
