After a challenging spring at the boat yard and a 7 mile ride up the Delaware River,
I'm finally in my summer slip:D

There is still lots left to do but it's the kind of stuff that I can do while I'm sitting around the dock and hanging out on the boat. New electronics too, so that means some heavy reading to get up to speed on how to use the new radar/gps/sounder. Good luck to you guys still getting ready...see you on the water.

OK you guys cost me $4.00 in bridge fare:p...ask and you shall receive.

I grabbed the fenders and forgot the new dock lines, now I got a reason to come back tomorrow even though the forecast is calling for rain:D

I'll get some shots of the new display when I get the cockpit cover off.

Nice boat. Good job on slipping it. Makes it so much more fun when you can just get in and go.

Nice. I've always like Larsons. It was nearly a coin toss between buying a 280 Cabrio and the boat in my sig. last fall.

What model/year is it? I don't understand why people don't use their signature to let everyone know what they have :)

The boat is a 2001 Larson 270 model. The engine is a Volvo Penta 5.7 GSI PEFS with a DP-SM drive. Overall the boat has been great, it gets really good fuel mileage with the stepped hull, helps on those extended weekend trips to the Chesapeake Bay. Beam is around 9 feet, makes it nice to move around inside. I try to keep up on the maintenance and shop out the things that I can't do. Just doing the easy stuff on any boat will pay off, keeping it covered, booting the bimini, wax, bottom paint, oil and lube, calk. Heck I just had the steamer guy come in last week at the boat yard for a once over on the carpets and the upholstery in the cabin. Each season I try to learn something new either by reading the forums, the manual, or spending time at the boat yard talking to other boaters that do their own work. One thing I've found is that, if you try to rush it all in two weeks in the spring, your doing yourself and your boat no favors.

Nice boat and a wonderful area to boat at, freelancer. I had the opportunity to travel that river to the Chesapeake once, but one of the most memorable rides was on the ferry from Lewes, DE to Cape May, NJ. Cold beverage and a reggae band playing.

Enjoy your summer!

Sasto I see your in Florida, it would be nice to have a longer boating season and maybe not worry about all of the winterizing stuff. I guess I will have the chance to get out onto some more temperate waters sooner or later. The last time I passed Florida by boat was while I was towing a 300 foot Crowley RO/RO deck barge to San Juan Puerto Rico from Pennsauken, NJ where Crowley has a large container terminal.

I just finished the 3rd renewal on my USCG License earlier this month, use to do it for a living but now I make my living on land. I didn?t want to let the license go by the way side because it was so dam hard to get in the 1st place. I just joint the local USCG AUX because I wanted to be able to give back some of the 25 years plus experience that I have and stay current with the maritime pulse. I like to travel by boat, it's a great experience...maybe ?The Great Loop", I chatted about it before but I'm going to need a vessel more in your size to do that trip. BTW, I got enough Reggae on my MP3 player to go nonstop for at least 3 days, got to start somewhere:)

Freelancer, that's the same motor/outdrive package I have in the 24' Chris*Craft express that I'm selling, and it's a sweet combination.

One of the deciding factors in my choice of the '97 Four Winns Vista over the '95 Larson 280 Cabrio I was looking at, was that the Larson had carbureted Mercs (same V-6's). I slightly prefer Volvo, but I love F.I.

Hope you have a great season!

I agree, freelancer. Getting my CG license was very hard for me. I'm not very "booksmart". I had the priviledge to make the "loop" 8 times for a former boss. I think your boat would make it easy. I ran across (not really, across) a canoer one time in a lock in NY headed to Key West. Good luck in everything you do!
