All my guages are failing.....

Over the last two weeks, i have lost my temp guage, trim guage, fuel guage. They are all failing one by one it seems. What is going on, and how do i fix this? Are my connections under the dash just bad? All the connections look fine, and there is current going to the guages. Any ideas where to begin?

Begin with a DVM. Looking at the connections won't help, you need to test the connections.<br /><br />Start with the most common denominator - the ground connections.<br /><br />Aldo

I have DVM, can you tell me which I should test first.<br /><br />Ground and 12V, i assume, there is also an ignition wire, and a wire going to the back of the boat to the respective device (i.e. engine temp guage, trim sender). Can you give me some pointers of what I should test first, and what results I am looking for? Thanks

how old is your boat? maybe the senders are going bad one by one. Temp, trim, and fuel are notorious for failing when old enough. For starter take the trim sender out and move it manually to see if the needle moves at all. Same thing for fuel sender but be careful with this one and put it back exactly before you take it out of the tank. Good lucks.

i notice these all wire into the ignition, perhaps that is where the short is? What do you think, boat is only a 1997

you just havta route around.. you'llfind it..<br /><br />with ign. off ,, use two test leads/aligator clip wires.. attach to a good hot an good ground .. apply circut power to the gauges an see what you get..
