I have a Yamaha 90 outboard. When I start it no alarm sounds and I can idle with no alarm. When I give it throttle, the alarm will sound until I shut it down. I have changed the thermostat and sensor . The water outlet seems a little warm but not hot, I can hold my hand under it. could it be an oil injection problem? Thank you for any input .

Yes, oil injection systems have an oil failure alarm or three...

Not sure what alarms yours will have. Can be a low level in the oil tank, detecting the pump not delivering oil or other alarms depending on what the manufacturer set up.

You need to consult your manual or someone familiar with that injection system.

Yamaha 2 stroke motors only alarm on low oil level and overheat.
should have an indicator on the gauges that will tell you what the alarm is.
you can always look at the level of oil in tank on motor when this ararm sounds to see if the level is low.

when was the last time the water pump was replaced?
tell tail can be just warm and still have the motor overheating

I think there's a filter in the oil injector that needs to be replaced not sure how often, that plugs up and your motor burns up. Then fill the oil tank full.
Like above, Yamaha says change impeller before every season, we change ours the morning of our first launch of the season.
We added a digital water temp gauge, it sure is nice to know the temp and what's normal.
