I recently purchased a pontoon with a 75HP Mercury. The controls sound a piezo alarm most of the time. I used to be able to tap the key(electric choke) and the sound would quit. Water is flowing good, so I don't think it is getting hot. Can I open it up and clean the connections?

Re: alarm from controls

It is a '89 or '90 year model with a Commander 2000 control.

Thats either a overheat or low oil alarm, disconnect the temp sensor first to see if thats gone bad if that don't stop it, disconnect the low oil sensor and if that don't stop it disconnect the oil module. If neither sensor stops it or the oil module then you have a shorted wire
