Ok its a 1987 Yamaha 115 2stroke. Started the motor and was running for about 10 minutes with earmuffs on. Then the buzzer alarm came on. Turned off engine.

Alarm would come on everytime key turned to on position. Found a red wire with a DIODE inline on it. Red wire was coming from the near the igniter packs and connected to the oil pump wiring. (I think)

The Diode was an Open, removed Diode and alarm went away. The Diode looked like it was put in by a past owner. Could tell be craftsmanship.

I need to know if this Diode needs to be replaced and if running without it would cause a problem?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes its part of the sytem to isolate the oil and temp feeds
its also impossible to find in the diagram
its easy to find in the tech bulliten books or by calling yamaha. but an open diode should not have affected the horn. you may be fighting multiple failures. test each one seperatly but replace the diode. its a blocking diode .
and your right about the apperence. even from the factory it looked like an after thought
