Hello,

I'm not a boat owner, I'm actually posting this for my father who is technology challenged :joyous: We took his fishing boat out this weekend, first time this year. Batteries fully charged, full of new gas, and engine oil all good. Mercury 75hp motor.

When we first started it, we let it idle for 30 seconds and then put it in reverse. It started to make an alarm or beep sound every second, very odd. So we put it in neutral and it stopped after a full minute. We took off and got to our fishing spot and fished there for about an hour.

Then when we took off again the alarm started again. Any ideas where this is coming from? It's definitely coming from the dash area, but no indication of what it is.

Any help is appreciated!

It is coming from the control box and if this engine is a two stroke, the warning is a "oil injection" or "overheat" alert. Sounds like it is an oil injection warning. Being full of oil is no guarantee the oil injection system is working. Not familiar with four stroke alarms so someone will surely post what those are.
