1986 Mako with L225TXRX Yamaha outboard. y- mechanic just finished with the fuel system and a 10 mile test run with no issues- reportedly ran great. Launched and idled out canal and ran on plane about a quarter mile to another canal and within a few minutes I got a low sound level alarm. Not the loud alarm generated by low oil (assume same for heat). Put boat on lift and next day and there after the low alarm occurred each time I turned the key on. Pulled boat out and ran it back to mechanic. He was not able to generate the alarm while boat on trailer. Brought back home with some troubleshooting recommendations and upon launch, low alarm. The loud alarm never kicks in. Heat/ temp sensors were disconnected per recommendation and no change. Unplugged oil level gauge/ sensor which resulted in loud alarm. Continuity of sensor seems to be good (not and expert).
unpluged alarm and checked wires with a ground: 12 volts on the Yellow and (strangely) 6-7v on pink
Checked and tightened the wiring on tach (really just changed a few tight wires and re-secured).
I’ve read more than a few posts but nothing seems to match.
Any suggestions for narrowing this down at this point?
