After stumbling upon this fuel pump and understanding it to be an exact replacement for mercruiser part #861156A, I ordered it from Summit Racing. The outlet side of the airtex has no threads. The factory pump has a crossover that goes between the fuel line and the pump. Any ideas how I should go about connecting the fuel line to the fuel pump?

Does anyone have any eXperience with this pump? Do all come with no threads or did I get an odd ball pump? Pics below.

looks like a mistake to me... you could tap it or solder a pipe to it but doesn't look right! I'd Call Summit on it

Looks odd but the picture on the summit site shows no threads. Not sure how they expect you to connect to it. Maybe it is made like that so you can cut your own threads depending on application.

It looks to me as if they forgot to tap it... Call Summit and see what they say.

I contacted Summit before I posted. They gave me airtex's phone number, and told me to call them in the morning. The outlet on the new pump is too small to cut the threads into. The crossover piece fits inside of the outlet with much room to spare.

What fuel system do you have? No threads = EFI. Threads =carbed.
Also there is a service on fuel pumps & the applications. I think it came out around '06. Maybe Don can dig it up.

I have a carburated model. The engine serial # is 0L037276. I hope either airtex or summit will exchange it for me.

Even if he had EFI, how is he to connect with no threads? I had planned to use the same part if I ever needed a pump. I'm interested in how you do it. There was a thread that referenced this pump about a year ago, I'll see if I can find it again.

Update: Just search on Airtex, there are several. The thread below shows the pump, but does not show the end. Unless it's obvious how to connect, I think he would have said something.

The problem is, you ordered the wrong pump, your original pump is a 861155A3 which is threaded and for a carbed engine. Your airex pump is an 861155A1 which is for an EFI engine in the cool fuel. No threads. Has an oriing fittings shown here.
