Re: Airmar transducers??
Airmar does not sell directly to the public but its nice to go to their website (a rather poor web site I might add) and look up which models them make that are compatable with your depth finder. It is good to rmember that Airmar makes about 3/4 of the transducers in use in the world today and in may cases where they are not the original equipment manufacturer they still make models that are compatable. That of course is because for the most part these days if you match the frequency you can use the transducer.

As to the in-hull mounts they make several different models. As mentined the common one is the P79. They are cheap. I think you can pick one up for around $80, about the same price as a transom mount. They also make other in-hull mounted transducers but they tend to get pretty expensive. I have one of their somewhat-new high performance models for small fish finders (it can accept up to 1 kW of power) in my boat and have been using it since last spring. I've used it in shallow fresh water (up to about 80 feet) and in deep salt water (in excess of 2,000 feet) and it far out performs the thru-hull that I had before it. Target definition and separation with it is simply incredible, something that really shows up over bait pods or in shallow water when really trying to pick out bottom detail. Anyway, I like it and I'm glad I plunked down the bucks for it.

Oh, the place to buy Airmar transducers is from their retail outlet, its the least expensive place and on top of that they always have stock or are the very first to get anything that is on a national backorder. The place is called Gem Electronics, they are in South Carolina. Oddly enough they do not have a web site. I was going to give you their phone number but the one I have saved in my phone somehow has gained one to many numbers and I don't know which one is wrong. Someone should be able to give it to you.

Thom
