Hi, I've finally managed to find the serial numbers of my engines (should keep the insurance company happy) but now they need to know the ages. They are both 75hp and one is clearly older than the other. Serial numbers are 9847778 (older one) and 9945921 (newer one). Can anyone help me? :%

Re: Age of twin mercurys

Thank you very much for that link, I've now identified the older engine as a 1995 but the listing only goes up to 1996 and my other engine seems to be newer than that, any ideas?

I believe that the first engine was produced in 1995 and the second was produced in 1996.

His list just doesn't show the ending serial number for 1996.

What is the color band (colors) on the motor cowling?

The older engine has 2 red stripes and four silver/grey stripes all of them are quite thin. The newer engine has a thick swirly red band and a thinner swirly red band. 1995 sounds right for the older engine but I think the newer one is probably between 1996 and 1998...
