Normaly when I am off on Thursdays I have to watch my 3 year old while my wife teaches Karate. Well her and the kids have left to visit her family out of state so I have Thursday all to myself. I decide to do things around the house and go that afternoon. I leave with the plan to have about 4 hours of daylight to fish. I get to the ramp and low and behold there is a bassclub tournament going on. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against tournaments. But here in Ky the Department of Fish and Wildlife has on thier website where you can registyer your tournaments free of charge. That way people can check and see if the ramp will be full, like in this case with around 50 boats. I had checked and there was nothing register for that ramp, or any of the other ramps in the area. I could have drove to one of the other two ramps in town but with that many boats the river would have been busy. I just wish thses guys had registered and I would have known and made other plans. Most of the other lakes in the area you have to pay to launch and by the time I could have got there I just can't see paying $5 to fish for 2-3 hours. Anyway thanks for letting me vent. I feel better.

That sounds like a good idea to have a place for them to register. I would say that it is inconsiderate for them to not register.

I understand the frustration, but $5 for even 2 hours is still a no brainer. Can't hardly even buy a drink for that anymore.

Better yet, when he's fishing a point, drive right up onto it and cork fish for brim.:D

Don't forget to try to engage him in a conversation about politics.

Re: Afternoon ruined.

I have never seen a bass tournament actually tie up a boat ramp unless they are all putting in or taking out! Way back, our club would only use one of the lanes if there were more than one and leave the other open. But then again, that was back when there were "sportsmen"!

LD, where have you been? haven't seen you around for a minute.

Those guys probably weren't aware of such thing so if you go here: http://www.fishin.com/forums2/forumdisplay.php?f=181

and vent, it should help your cause. And please! don't fish or disturb where other people are fishing. Two wrongs don't make a right y'all.

Big tournaments can lead to frustration at the ramp. The tournament boats put in early so that part of the process goes un-seen by the general public. Most of the time weigh in is somewhere between 2-3PM. If you frequent a lake that's popular for tournaments, about the best advice I could give would be to avoid the ramp between 2 and 3 on the weekends. (If possible)

i agree with some of the others i hate you had a bad day. i often pay 5 for a couple of hours.. i figure the rest will help the lake assoc.. i would have talked to the tournament coordinator.. but often times the best thing to do is to just pack to another ramp or lake and cut losses.. i am still working on the do the right thing.. i have to often bite my tongue and not just go in and bang heads.. i try to be a good example for my kids and practice what i preach about what i teach my kids out of the bible.. when i have my mind set on going fishn it is hard to do the christian thing sometimes.. maybe god will bless your next outing with extra joy..
