The stock reeds on my V6 have close to 500 hours, and some of them are out of spec. I have been looking at Boyesen reeds to replace them. Are these aftermarket reeds as good as Boyesen posts on their site? Does any other after market company manufacture intake reeds for V6 Mercs?

Re: Aftermarket intake reeds

The fiberglass or carbon fiber reeds usually improve idle over stock. Certainly will help if yer stock steel reeds are out of spec.

Another key feature is that if they do fail, the fiber reeds are less likely to cause serious engine damage. The steel reeds almost always hurt somethin' else if they break.

Some folks make their own from printed circuit board material, or carbon fiber base stock. Printed circuit material is FR4, .023". Carbon fiber is either .013" or .020" carbon fiber stock from robotcombat.com or other places.

The latest rage is ss reeds and rubber coated blocks.
