I recently purchased a 2002 Lowe 14' side console bass boat with a 25 HP model F25TLRA Yamaha 4 stroke outboard. I want to install a Teleflex tachometer and a trim indicator gauge on it. I'd like to tie the instruments into the wiring harness by the single lever control but don't know what wires to tie into. I've tried to get a wiring diagram from a couple of Yamaha dealers and they say they don't have any wiring diagrams and to just probe the wires with a test light. I guess Yamaha wiring diagrams must be a closely guarded secret around here. This motor came with power tilt and trim. Does it have a sending unit for a trim indicator gauge and where would it be located on the motor and what color wire would it have going to it? Is it acceptable to run the gauge lights off of the running light switch?
