After 20 years of lake boating, tried something completely different

Always been a freshwater guy. Bass boats, pontoons, the usual Midwest lakes.
Last month the wife and I ended up in Dubai for our anniversary. Figured why not see what boating looks like over there.
Night cruise from Dubai Marina. 7 PM departure, city all lit up—Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis, that giant Ferris wheel. Boat was probably 60 feet, crew of three, maybe 20 passengers. Not my usual solo fishing setup.
Different? Absolutely. No casting, no trolling, just watching the skyline reflect on the water. Wife loved it. I missed my rod holder, but the temperature was nice—no humidity like our July evenings.
Made me appreciate my 18-footer more, honestly. But also made me wonder how many other boaters have tried international waters just for the perspective.
Anyone else done boating abroad? Or am I the odd one out here?

Fish out of Ocean City, Md. and Virginia Beach, Va. on a regular basis.

Going back in after dark from a day offshore (40-90 miles out) never gets old. You go from total darkness to just a shimmer of light on the horizon that slowly builds to a city of lights over time.

Fished for marlin out of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico a number of times. Biggest difference, you fish much closer to shore and are back in port before darkness sets in.

I was blessed, and cursed to be the first mate whenever my Dad wanted his Carver framed from Pickwick TN to Bradenton. Tell you what the thrill wears off at least for me. I prefer a simple boat over a floating RV any day.

Boated in 51st state,
12' rowboat, canoe, 18' tinny, and 50'ish ferry. Does that count ?

When in Ghana I have some fishermen who want to take me 7-10 miles off shore in their dugout canoes for a fishing adventure. Wife isn't too keen on that happening, however.

Family in Denmark take us sailing every time we go. I do like the quietness of that.

Did a tour in that nasty city on that nasty river in Paris France.
