I have an 86 Glasstream 15'5" with a 1980 70hp Evinrude. Obviously not the original engine. Wiring for the engine and remote control are OK and not getting rewired.

It's the hull wiring worries me a little. Some of the connectors in various places look sketchy. Front nav lights and rear running lights are shot and the brackets they mount to need replaced. These are the type where the light is removable and the bracket is also the electric socket.

So long story short, here's what I'm going to do. I need some assistance deciding what size wiring to use for most of this.

1) Run a new positive line to the dashboard where the switch assembly where the bilge, livewell pumps, and all lights get their power. My pumps and lights are the standard size/amount you'd have on a small bass boat. Original wire appears to be 16 AWG, seems to me like 12AWG would be best. Thoughts?

2) New fuse or breaker for this positive line near the battery. Originally the boat came to me with a corroded breaker rated "24v 20amp", but that seems kinda high for thin wire. Assuming I run 12AWG would a 20 amp breaker be appropriate?

3) Replace the switches with new and run new wiring to the front and back for new lights.

4) Run 1 line to the front for high power LEDS for night fishing. These will be flood lights, probably 100-200w total, on a pivot. Seems like 14AWG would suffice here, correct, even at 200w which should be about 17 amps. Correct?

Your flood lights would not be legal to use

As a running light, no. As a utility light (ie, while anchored), I wouldn't think. I'll double check

I do know that there are a LARGE number of boaters around here that are lit up like lighthouses and the warden just checks their creel and licenses.
