Trailer bunk extend 6" past transom which was ok, I use it as a step to climb onto boat. But decided to move boat/winches back. Marked original axle location for reference. Moved axle back and now have 7% tongue weight (after many tries) which is good. Measured axle from reference line, one side is 3/8" further back. I know i have to adjust to make it almost even but ...... How would this affect the trailer when driving? Boat is 20' and trailer is single axle with brakes. Thanks.

Re: advice on trailer axle adjustment

Hi, Alex.

With a 3/8" difference the trailer will tow a little off center and tend to pull the rear of your truck slightly to one side on braking.

It should be a small effect, but I would adjust it to the same distance from the hitch to each hub, +or- 1/32 to 1/16".

Good luck. :)

Adjust it as close as you can. You will save on tire wear and gas mileage.
