advice on 67 merc. 50

guys i found a 50 horse merc ..i think 67 model with thunderbolt ignition. i never had one of these..the compression on all cylinders was 120.. its old but it runs good.are these relaible outboards???

They're great engines. I have quite a few of them and have only had one fail. The only issue is the distributor cap and rotor are discontinued parts so they can be hard to find. Some stores have them as old stock though.<br />Eric

i have a 65hp, my brother in law has a 50 and there great, in fact i had a 1988 force 50hp on my boat and i changed over to my old '67' merc.65hp
