Hello. My motor (in signature) has brass water tube bushings (#305468) with an o-ring. The impeller repair kit that I bought includes a rubber bushing (#310372) and o-ring. Can the brass and rubber be exchanged? Anybody ever have specific problems with either one?

If the original brass bushings are better, can I extract them in order to replace the o-rings and then reseat them? Any tips on how to do that without damaging the bushings?

Regardless of whether I use rubber or brass bushings, are there any tricks of the trade to getting the water tubes to seat into the bushings well while installing the lower unit? Thanks.

Newer motors used the rubber grommets. Either system is just fine, no need to convert. There is no need to remove the brass inserts. Just use a flattened stiff wire or something to pick the o-ring out. Then squeeze the new one flat and stick it in. Oil it up to make it slick

There is no special trick to aligning the tubes. Just look in there and watch what you are doing.
