Hello, I have been having problems with a used boat i had bought about 1 1/2 months ago. I finally took it off to a marine repair shop after trying different remedies. Well, Bad news the shop says. Seems the cylinders are all rusted up and now the engine is frozen. I checked the Illinois Lemon Laws but it does not cover boats. Is it even worth taking the guy i bought the boat from to court? What is a person to do? Any advice is appreciated. Even the ones that will call me a Dumb A%&. LOL

Re: Advice needed

The motor was run out of the water(W/hose attached)but Not in the water. motor sounded good, plus this guy works with me, So silly ole' me trusted him. What a fool I am. Anyway is it hard to change the cylinders on these motors(70 HP Evinrude 3 Cyl.) I am a learn as I do mechanic. If i can get the pistons and cylinders changed, I can take it in to get it timed and tweeked.

I am in the same situation you are in. I bought a boat 2 months ago. I took it for a test drive and then took it out on two more trips and it ran great. Then it died on me in the middle of the lake.

My neighbor told me he had a buddie who bought an old bronco with a frozen engine from a junk yard. He put some Marvins mystery oil in each cylinder and let it soak in and that got it running again. Even drove it to california. I tried that with my problem, but it didnt help any. Just wanted to let you know. Good luck.
