Re: Admiral laughing at me....
I always check tracking. One, it's interesting and two, sometimes things go wrong and the sooner you find out, the sooner you can correct it.
When I was still working I sent out overnight packages several times a week. The (now defunct) carrier we used 20 years ago was a bit unreliable at getting actually getting overnight packages to their destination on the next day. I started checking tracking the first thing in the morning so I would at least know in advance that I was going to get screamed at. We finally switched to FedEx and got away from that problem.
Even with FedEx things can go sour if you're not careful addressing the airbill. I once shipped a box of rework parts to Warren, MI. Checked tracking the next morning and my package was in Louisville, KY. I said some bad words and was about to call FedEx and scream at them when I noticed the shipping info had the wrong zip code. Checked my copy of the airbill and sure enough - the zip should have been 48xxx and I put 43xxx. So I made a humble call to FedEx and asked them to redirect it and called my resident engineer and told him to cancel the rework crew. And started proofreading my airbills very carefully.
