Adjustment for reverse on 71' 65hp Merc

Hey- Can anyone tell me where, (if there is one,) the adjustment for fwd/rev on a 65 hp Mercury Outboard. It appears to shift into gear but slips out immediately when applying throttle, It feels as if something needs to be tightened to have it NOT slip out of reverse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that your only adjustment is on the shift cable itself. You can adjust it back towards the reverse side a little and see if it holds ok. Hopefully it will hold in forward then. If it wont adjust out, your shift cable may be worn or stretched. Good Luck...
