adjust the idle on a honda bf225

Greetings all,<br /><br />Where is the idle speed control set on a honda bf225 engine? Is it within the dash throttle assembly, or on the motor itself? My engine in idling near 1.5k rpms and I'd like to step it back to around 850-900

You cannot adjust the idle more than about 200 rpm on this motor.The idle screw is situated at the back of the throttle body and is adjusted with the idle air control valve disconnected which will set a fault code and would be best left to a dealer to perform.The 225 will not idle this fast unless there is a problem such as air leaks or fuel delivery faults.I would suggest you first check the tacho is reading correctly,if the motor were idling this fast you would have extreme difficulty getting it out of gear into neultral.Good luck!!!

I should have also mentioned that you should check the throttle cable adjustment,make sure that at idle the throttle butterfly lever is right back against the throttle stop scew,if not adjust the cable accordingly.

u can easy reset the code, i can tell u
