I'm doing the water pump on my 150 johnson on all o rings and gaskets like for the exhaust housing they want you to use there adhesive m or what ever it's called can i just use a little high temp rtv?

Adhesive M is a 3M product called Scotch-Grip and also called 3M 847.

The product is resistant to gasoline, oil, water and grease, which is what you need. Loctite and Permatex have similar products. Silicone products are not very suitable.

Is there some where i can get it like a auto parts store? Or is there a substitut that would be at a store?

Adhesive M is replaced by Scotch #847. Hard to find locally. But you can get it at any Evinrude dealer. Or you can get it cheaper from McMsater Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/
Part number 776964 from the dealer, Scotch #847 from McMaster.
