Greetings,

2007 Kayot Z201

One of the small (i think it is some sort of flexible plastic) logos (its about a 3 inch 'K' for Kayot) started to come off over the weekend after I cleaned the seats with mild soap and water, let dry, and then applied vinyl 303 protectant to all vinyl parts of my boat.

None of the other logos were effected, just the one on the seat back portion of the back bench seat.

MY question is, what adhesive is safe to use on marine vinyl...and are there any out there that bond plastic to vinyl or vinyl to vinyl, well...without harming the vinyl seats?

Also, should I clean the area first with soap and water or oxyclean or something, to get the 303 stuff off before trying to apply adhesive for the logo...for a better bond? This is my first time using 303 and it seems to be like an armor all type product, which makes the vinyl slippery.

Thanks all.

Contact cement. Remove any old glue. Clean with alcohol and abrade the surface slightly.

+1 on the cleaning with alcohol. However, I think the contact cement might get soft and gummy, depending where you boat (sun gets mighty hot). You can also try a super glue type adhesive. I've used it before on vinyl-to-vinyl and it seemed to work pretty well.
